No Open Banking

An island country in the West Indies.

According to Kepios, 63% of the population of Saint Lucia had access to the Internet at the beginning of 2022. With the high-speed broadband network and high uptake of smartphone technology, Saint Lucia already has the infrastructure needed for Open Banking.

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has created its own form of digital currency meant to help speed transactions and serve people without bank accounts. It is the first such blockchain-based currency introduced by any of the world’s currency unions, though some individual nations have similar existing systems.

Fintechs are expected to promote financial inclusion in Saint Lucia.
