Chad sits at the intersection between North and Central Africa and has been attempting to address financial inclusion.

The internet penetration rate is 19% in Chad, and mobile phone usage is equivalent to 52% of the population.

44% and 35% of women and men, respectively, do not have bank accounts. Chad has been implementing national strategies to address financial inclusion, the most recent being the PADLFIT (Programme National d’Appuiau Développement Local et à la Finance Inclusive au Tchad) for the period 2017-2021; however, Chad still remains with high levels of unbanked in the population, and the UN ranks it as the least developed in the world.
