Qatar is a peninsular Arab country whose terrain comprises an arid desert and a long Persian Gulf shoreline of beaches and dunes. Qatar has announced the launch of its Open Banking platform.

Qatar National Bank (QNB) has announced the launch of its Open Banking platform for a wider audience, including the Bank’s customers, partners and emerging Fintechs in Qatar. 

Qatar launched its Fintech strategy in March 2023.

Particularly, the low-income, high-volume market, such as migrant and domestic workers, as well as micro-entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), benefit from Open Banking applications, which enable access to financial services such as payroll and payments.

There are over 800 Fintech enterprises in Qatar.

Qatar ranked 4th out of 134 in Wiley’s Digital Skills Gap Index (DSGI) 2021.

The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) is preparing to launch sandbox technology for computer security as part of QCB’s preparations to unveil its Fintech strategy.
